About

I have been running my editorial services company since 2016, when I left academia to start this new adventure. I started out just offering copyediting services to academic authors, and have been steadily expanding my services over the years. I now offer copyediting and indexing services, as well as a full suite of author support services, including developmental editing and book coaching.

Prior to opening my editorial services business, I worked as an academic librarian for over 15 years, including as an associate director. I’m ABD in religious studies, with an MA in women’s studies and religion and an MS in LIS. My 20 years of experience as a scholar, a researcher, and a faculty member have given me insight into the opportunities, constraints, and demands of writing for tenure. My resume is available here.

In my years as an editor, I have studied both editorial processes and the publishing industry, including formal training in developmental editing. I have been the Education Coordinator for the Editorial Freelance Association and have been a member of the ASI course revision committee. I have served on the executive board of the Northwest Editors Guild, the Publishers Outreach Committee of ASI, and I host a monthly developmental editors’ gathering. I taught an Introduction to Indexing course and a Research Methods in Communications Studies course regularly, and still regularly teach LIS courses for a variety of providers. I continuously hone my skills and seek out new ways to understand and assist authors in their pursuit of successful scholarly writing and publishing
